Belly Growing, No Weight Gain???

Ok, so this is kind of weird... my belly is definitely growing, but my weight is not increasing at all.  Strange.  

Baby's 1st Concert

Friday night was Baby Schmieder's first concert!  It was Dave Matthews Band at Hershey Park, and it was a great show.  We got great seats on the floor, and I was excited we had chairs, but I didn't need one the whole time!  We were joking that the pregnant lady was the only one who stood for the whole show.  Mike was a little concerned that we may be corrupting "him" *** because he is not the biggest fan of Dave, but he got down on the baby's level and was satisfied that all the baby could hear was bass, and that there is nothing wrong with "him" liking some good bass.  I was a bit nervous about both of us being around the drinking/smoking, but luckily it was an outdoor arena, so we didn't sit in a cloud of smoke, and neither of us smoked a cigarette!  I am over a month no smoking, and Mike is going on 3 weeks!!!!

Today I am 9 weeks, 4 days, and found this great little image to show baby schmieder's growth spurt!  We graduated to an olive!

Getting Fat

Still just looking like I have had one too many cupcakes..... the funniest thing.. I have lost 3 lbs... can someone tell me how that is possible??

Predictions!

It is way too early to tell the baby's sex, so for fun here are a few old wives tales to predict the gender of Baby Schmieder...

1- Add the mother's age at time of conception with the number of the month in which she conceived to get another predictor of the baby's gender. Odd numbers are said to predict girls and evens to predict boys: 27 + 6 = 33

2- Assess your sweet tooth as another predictor. Pregnant women carrying girls are said to crave sweets such as chocolate, fruits and orange juice. Mothers of boys crave salty foods and meat: I want both or neither depending on the day. (Result- DRAW)

3- Tie a ring to the end of a thread and hold it over a pregnant woman's belly. If the ring moves back and forth, it's a boy. It's a girl if the ring swings in a circular motion: It went back and forth.

4- Follow the Chinese gender predictor calendar to predict your baby's gender. Enter the age of the mother at conception and the month the baby was conceived. The calendar will show you if you are likely to have a boy or a girl. This method is said to be over 90% accurate, but remember that it's just for fun: Chinese Age 27 at Lunar month 5.

5- One belief that has been around for some time, and even had some acceptance in the medical community at one point, is that the fetal heartbeat differs for boys and girls. If you're having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140: Rate 160

6- If your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn't put on a pound, then you're carrying a boy: Mike is gaining weight, but I think that is more due to the quitting smoking- he is substituting candy for cigs... either way...

7- Mayans determined a baby's sex by looking at the mother's age at conception and the year of conception. If both are even or odd, it's a girl. If one's even and one's odd, it's a boy: 27 & 2009.

8- If you're breaking out like crazy, blame it on your girl babe. The belief goes that girls steal their mother's beauty, hence, those annoying zits: No break outs so far!!

9- Sick as a dog during the first trimester -- or still? Signs indicate you're having a girl. Little or no morning sickness points to a boy: I have become well aquatinted with my toilet.

8 weeks!

Yesterday we officially met baby schmieder for the 1st time!  The doctor says everything looks great!  We got to listen the the heartbeat (sounds so fast, Mike said it was like sonar) and we are really excited now!  The fetal heart rate was 160, which the Dr. Said is exactly where we should be.  I can not believe there is a person growing inside of me!!

Where I have spent the last 4 days... hopefully not many more....

"morning" sickness my ass... try entire day....

week 7 here I come

10 weeks!

So we have decided to tell everyone our news at 10 weeks... mostly because we cannot hide the anticipation, and people are starting to become curious why I am not drinking or smoking.  I am attributing weight gain to the lack of smoking (totally true) but I am not sure how long I can ride that one out... we will see!
