Heartbeat

I just read on a few sites that today Baby Schmieder has a heartbeat... crazy...
The size of Baby Schmieder today....

As an aside.. I wanted to shorten Baby Schmieder to something shorter and cute, but realized the most obvious choice would be B.S.... that just is not going to work....

5 Week Visit?

Under the advice of my doctor, I called the new OB/GYN this morning and told them about my hypertension, and surprise, they wanted to see me today!  That was fast, and Mike was pretty bummed he would not be able to come, but apparently I am going to the doctor today!

UPDATE: So I just went for my 1st pre-natal visit.  It was really informative and I really liked the Doctor!  She suggested we deliver at St. Peters because it is a high-risk pregnancy b/c of my hypertension.  I am proud, however, to say that though I am a fainter, I did not pass out today, and they took 4 viles of blood!  I was impressed with myself.  They also did an ultrasound, but it was too soon to see anything other than the gestational sac, but on a positive note the baby is definitely implanted in my uterus, which was a big concern b/c of my endometriosis!  My next appointment is at 8 weeks, and the Dr. said that we would definitely be able to see something by then!

ummm.... ok???

So I had my first moment of concern today.  I went to my general practitioner to change up my blood pressure medicine, and I was informed that I am considered a "high-risk" pregnancy because of my hypertension.  I am trying not to freak out, but the Dr. told me to call my new OB/GYN 1st thing in the morning and schedule an appointment.  Will update tomorrow....

SPLURGE now SAVE later!

Upon finding out we were expecting, Mike and I had some real decisions to make.  Before the wedding, there were some items that we were going to splurge on, and purchase once we received our gift money...... oh how times have changed (in just one week!)  Mike and I decided that we were going to buckle down and start saving, but before we do we each got to get one thing on our splurge list.  I went with a 4 inch memory foam topper, and mike went with the PS3.
Are we bad parents already???

Education!

Mike and I are not exactly the most informed individuals when it comes to being pregnant, being parents, you get the picture.  We are trying to get informed by reading the books, but to be honest they freak me out and seem to make me more nervous than excited!
Currently we are reading:
Mike also got me a great journal at Barnes & Noble yesterday- the belly book!  Though I don't know how I feel yet about taking pictures of me as I get bigger and fatter.... I like the journal part where you can write notes to the baby!

Yup... that's a baby

So even though I went for the blood test to assure that this was real, I guess I couldn't really deny this test I took last Wednesday night...

They really don't leave much room for error in interpretation nowadays.

I'm Such a Quitter!

So.... this post's title may have a negative connotation, but in reality it is a good thing!  Thanks to baby Schmieder I am officially a non-smoker.  It was sooooooo hard to quit in the past, but I have to say this time around, it was not so hard!  I guess it helps that the smell of cigarette smoke makes me want to vomit, but when I think about how selfish it is to smoke while pregnant, I just can't bring myself to do it!
(sorry for getting all preachy on you, it is just my opinion)

Any who, I have been a non-smoker officially for one week, and I am really proud to say I am a HUGE quitter!!!  Mike's next!

Is it the Swine Flu??

(H1N1 a.k.a. Hi-Nee)

So about 2 weeks ago I thought I was coming down with the flu, possibly even the swine!  How is it we got married in Mexico during the height of the outbreak with no issue, and now in Hillsborough I am getting sick!  Alas, it was not the swine... but it was another unexpected surprise!
