Echocardiogram

So today I went to the hospital for an echocardiogram.  My internist wanted to check on how my hypertension has effected my heart over the past 10 years and see how my heart can handle the stress of delivery.  Mike came because he thought the idea of seeing my heart on the ultrasound was cool.... he was impressed.  It was so strange looking!  It was crazy that the ultrasound tech could tell all about my lifestyle based on my heart. The best line she gave me after I told her I was a smoker until June, "the heart is the best lie detector... I could tell before you even told me because of the heart; just so you know when you are a smoker it is like using rabbit ears, non-smokers you are working with HDTV."   We get the results when I visit the Dr. in September as long as everything is ok, until then no news is good news!

Baby's 1st Concert

Friday night was Baby Schmieder's first concert!  It was Dave Matthews Band at Hershey Park, and it was a great show.  We got great seats on the floor, and I was excited we had chairs, but I didn't need one the whole time!  We were joking that the pregnant lady was the only one who stood for the whole show.  Mike was a little concerned that we may be corrupting "him" *** because he is not the biggest fan of Dave, but he got down on the baby's level and was satisfied that all the baby could hear was bass, and that there is nothing wrong with "him" liking some good bass.  I was a bit nervous about both of us being around the drinking/smoking, but luckily it was an outdoor arena, so we didn't sit in a cloud of smoke, and neither of us smoked a cigarette!  I am over a month no smoking, and Mike is going on 3 weeks!!!!

I'm Such a Quitter!

So.... this post's title may have a negative connotation, but in reality it is a good thing!  Thanks to baby Schmieder I am officially a non-smoker.  It was sooooooo hard to quit in the past, but I have to say this time around, it was not so hard!  I guess it helps that the smell of cigarette smoke makes me want to vomit, but when I think about how selfish it is to smoke while pregnant, I just can't bring myself to do it!  

(sorry for getting all preachy on you, it is just my opinion)

Any who, I have been a non-smoker officially for one week, and I am really proud to say I am a HUGE quitter!!!  Mike's next!
